Macy’s classroom is a warm, nurturing environment where the whole child is supported and celebrated. Her teaching philosophy places a strong emphasis on social-emotional development, helping children learn to identify and express their feelings, build positive relationships, and navigate social situations with empathy and confidence. Through carefully designed activities, she also supports the development of fine motor skills, encouraging children to strengthen their hand muscles and coordination through tasks such as cutting, drawing, tracing, and hands-on manipulatives. Sensory play is also a big part of our day! Kids explore different textures, sounds, and materials through hands-on activities that help them learn, build fine motor skills, and have fun while doing it. It’s a great way for them to discover the world around them and practice calming their bodies and minds.
A central focus is fostering each child’s sense of confidence and independence. Children are encouraged to try new things, make choices, and take ownership of their learning in ways that empower them to trust their own voice and abilities. Macy believes in celebrating progress and practice over perfection and uses positive reinforcement to help children feel capable and valued.
At the heart of her classroom is a commitment to cultivating a lifelong love of learning through weekly themes catered to the age-appropriate interests of preschoolers. Her classroom is a vibrant, dynamic place, full of laughter, music, dancing, storytelling, and meaningful play-based learning experiences.
She works hard to create a space where kids can be completely themselves, explore who they are, and grow in their own unique ways. Her hope is that every student leaves the classroom not only with new skills, but also with the confidence to be proud of who they are!
