Welcome to K/1, the students’ first experience in a multi-aged classroom!
I believe that Kindergarten and 1st grade should be years filled with wonder, joy, and discovery. Young children are naturally curious, and my goal is to nurture that curiosity through hands-on learning and plenty of time to explore. Our classroom is not limited to four walls—it stretches out to the farm, the garden, the pond, and every space where children can ask questions, try new things, and learn through adventure.
Reading and math are a big part of these early years, and I want children to see themselves as capable readers and mathematicians from the very start. We build strong literacy skills through phonics, stories, and daily opportunities to read and write. Math comes alive when we count eggs from the chicken coop, measure while we cook, or notice patterns in nature. I want children to experience learning as something joyful and meaningful, not just something they do at a desk.
Most importantly, I want every child to feel known, valued, and safe. In our classroom community, we care for animals, take care of our spaces, and treat each other with kindness and respect. My hope is that children leave Kindergarten and 1st grade with a strong academic foundation, a love of learning, and the confidence to explore the world with curiosity and joy.
